As one friend wrote, “Conky always greets me like I am the person my dog thinks I am.”
We are once again pleased to offer the Conky Price Memorial Professional Sportsmanship Award at the Ocala International Horse Show. If you knew Conky, you know of her inimitable spirit and joie de vivre for all life, all things equestrian, kitties, sun and sand. With her trademark long braid, and likely a Coors Light in hand, Conky be-bopped her way around the horse show circuit for what was, in essence, her entire life. She had trained professionally, she showed many a grand horse, and she judged some of the industry’s top competitions. But her greatest claim to fame was the ability to put a smile on the face of anyone she encountered through an encouraging word, a practical joke or just being her own whimsical self.
The short and sweet expression “Love, Light and Laughter” was her trademark sign off. And she lived it every day. Conky is still very much with us and her life is a message to us all to enjoy and not to take ourselves too seriously, because the message she is sending down is that no one upstairs was claimed by St. Peter early over a blue ribbon.
It is fitting and appropriate that this award be presented at such an outstanding facility here in the state of Florida, which Conky called home for more than 30 years. This unique trophy, orchestrated by Dede Dutel, recognizing the “Conky Price Memorial Professional Sportsmanship Award”, is being presented by Susan McMenamy to a worthy recipient chosen by our professionals here at the show. We invite you to submit the name of a person that you believe exemplifies Conky’s sportsmanship.

Conky was a professional trainer with Price Carousel Stables in Ohio for many years, and showed Bayberry Belinda to the Champion Ladies Park Harness title at the very first Morgan Grand National & World Championship Horse Show in 1973 in Detroit, MI.
